Watch Repair for the Fashionable

January 31st, 2012 | Posted by orens in luxury watches - (0 Comments)

Tag Heuer watch repairFashionable; we all want to be thought of that way, but how do we make it happen? The answer is quality watches. Brands like Rolex, Brietling, Omega and Tag Heuer let the world know just how stylish you are. The good thing about watches, unlike other accessories, is that a quality watch never falls out of style.

You should make sure you have one casual or sporty watch for weekend outings. Something in the corporate style for the office and business functions and something to go with evening wear. Those are the basics but if you want to really go wild when you dress up you will need more watches. You can get more, cheaper, watches to get the full gamut of colors, which is great for accessorizing.

That is why having a good place in mind for Tag Heuer watch repair and Breitling watch repair is important. You will break the bank trying to buy a new designer watch every time one breaks. Because these watches are always at the height of fashion, there is no need to replace them constantly. Some would even argue that a watch becomes more  valuable when it becomes a vintage item (given that it is well taken care of).

Omega Watch Repair: Co-axial Escapement

January 24th, 2012 | Posted by orens in luxury watches - (0 Comments)

omega watch repairOmega watch repair can be difficult because Omega watches are such expertly designed timepieces. Omega was the first watch on the moon. Omega was the official timekeeper of the 2010 Winter Olympics. No company holds as many records for accuracy as Omega does. Unfortunately it is their brilliant design that can pose a challenge when they are repaired.

The Omega co-axial escapement is one of recent developments in Omega watch technology. Traditional lever escapements require lubrication. With time this lubrication can deteriorate which can degrade the watche’s accuracy and damage its parts. The Omega co-axial escapement does not require lubricant because it is virtually free of friction. This makes the Omega watch run more accurately than its lever escapement peers.

That is why Omega watch repair needs to be left to Omega certified and trained repair people. Not every watch repair person understands the technology at play in Omega watches. New developments in Omega watch technology require constant training. Make sure that anyone taking apart your Omega, even if only for regular maintenance, has an Omega USA certificate.

You had the good sense to go out and buy one of the best watches on the market. Now you need to make sure it stays in peak condition. Only use certified Omega repair persons.

brietling watch repairIf you are anything like me, you are compulsive about checking your watch. I like to know that I am allocating my resources properly. As far as resources go, time is just about the most valuable one we have. With apocalyptic whisperings abounding this New Year we should all make sure to maximize our time (not that the world will end in 2012, but you never know).

People seem to associate living in the moment with not conforming to the rigors of a schedule. These people are doodlers who have never been on time in their lives, and will probably be late to the 2012 apocalypse (should it occur).  These are the same people who neglect their Longines watch repair and Breitling watch repair.

You can’t make the most of your time unless you can successfully account for every minute of it. A watch allows you to do just that. All the best things in life are precisely timed like waltzes, lunar cycles and horse races. Mother Nature has set the tempo and it is our job to keep pace. If the world does end this 2012, you can rest comfortably knowing you made the most of your time.

Dial Restoration

January 2nd, 2012 | Posted by orens in luxury watches - (0 Comments)

Rolex watch repairA common Rolex watch repair (and Brietling watch repair) is dial restoration. Even on the finest watches, after a long time, the dial can begin to wear. The dial is coated in lacquer and over time this lacquer can get scratched or crack. This in turn, exposes the metal underneath to rusting and oxidation. This leads to more damage on the dial.

Dial repair entails stripping the dial of all lacquer and paint, down to its brass. After the dial has been stripped, paint and lacquer are reapplied. It should be noted that most expert watch enthusiasts can usually tell when a dial has been restored. If your dial is beginning to wear, however, you don’t have many choices. An expert watch repair person can match the old color to the original almost flawlessly; so chances are you won’t notice much of a change in your favorite timepiece.

Dial refinishing costs an average $200 but more intricate dials (two tone or chronograph dials) can be slightly more expensive.  Make sure to shop your watch around before getting it repaired. Just because one repair person tells you it is unsalvageable, doesn’t necessarily mean it is so. An experienced watch repair person can repair even the most severely damaged watches.

Rolex watch repairA Rolex watch is the ultimate status symbol. It is worn by luminaries in the field of politics, hip-hop, business, and inheritance. If Rolex got a dime for each time they were mentioned in a song, celebrity profile, or magazine article they would be rich (richer than they are today).

If you own a Rolex you should be wearing it. Why own it if not to show it off? If it is broken simply take it in for Rolex watch repair. You don’t park a Lamborghini in a garage and let it languish there do you? No, you drive around honking the horn.

The same could be said about any other luxury brand watches. Is your favorite Brietling watch only keeping  55 minutes to the hour? Brietling watch repair can take care of that.

Getting something repaired just isn’t as rewarding as buying something new. That is why we often put off repairs but no one has trouble motivating to go shopping. It doesn’t make it any less of a waste to not wear a perfectly stylish and envy inducing luxury watch. How else are people supposed to know you have arrived? Material goods speak more of a person than morality, eloquence, kindness, and intellect combined.

Breitling Watch Repair Because Accidents Happen

December 20th, 2011 | Posted by orens in luxury watches - (0 Comments)

breitling watch repairAccidents will happen. Sometimes the causality of these accidents is the watch on your wrist. Whether you forget to take it off when painting a room in your house or you let it slip into the garbage disposal, a watch can get banged up. I once got drunk and threw my friend’s watch into a corn field during an argument. Later when we had made up we both went into the field to look for it. Surprisingly it did not sustain any damage but it easily could have.

If it had, however, gotten damaged it would have been in need of Breitling watch repair. It just goes to show you that watch damage will happen. That is why it is important to have a good watch repair service’s number handy. Omega watch repair, all forms of watch repair really, require an expert’s touch. It is better to have a place you know you can go as opposed to having to scramble to find a place after the fact.

So, as with most accidents, you can take precautions to avoid them and have plans in place to deal with them but they will occur. So be prepared and find a trustworthy watch repair service before you need it. When the time comes to call on the service you will be glad you did your homework.

Shopping Around for Omega Watch Repair

December 13th, 2011 | Posted by orens in luxury watches - (0 Comments)

Omega watch repairWhenever I need to have Omega watch repair done on my favorite watch I am reminded of the Seinfeld episode with the mechanic. For those who haven’t seen it I will summarize. Jerry wants to take his car to the only ‘honest mechanic’ in New York City because he fears others will rip him off. He doesn’t know what kind of repairs his car needs, and other mechanics could easily overcharge him. Ultimately the mechanic steals his car.

I feel the same way whenever I need Omega watch repair. I don’t know why the watch stopped working. Maybe it just needs a new battery? Or maybe it needs to be taken apart and rebuilt entirely? I have no way of knowing. That is why it is important to shop around when getting a watch repaired. Listen to what the repair people say and take note of the prices they quote you.

Going on reputation is a good way to start. If a watch repair company receives positive online reviews chances are they can be trusted. Still, it never hurts to get a second opinion.

So next time you need a watch repaired, shop around. You don’t want to leave your watch with a dishonest watch repair person, do you?

Getting a Watch ready for the Holiday Season

December 7th, 2011 | Posted by orens in luxury watches - (0 Comments)

luxury watchesNow that the holidays are approaching those of us who have luxury watches are going to be wearing them and showing them off to all out friends and relatives. I for one cannot wait to take my special occasions watch out of my girlfriend’s jewelry box and polish it a bit, just to get it ready for showing off. My prize watch is a Tag Heuer.

I always take it out of my girlfriend’s jewelry box a few weeks before I plan to wear it to make sure it is not in need of Tag Heuer watch repair.  You don’t want to be caught without your favorite watch for the holiday season.

Last year the battery in my watch had died and I had to run around Manhattan hours before a Christmas party trying to get it running again. The whole ordeal was very stressful, so this year I am getting my watch ready early. Better safe than sorry.

I would suggest that other luxury watch owners also take the time to make sure their favorite watches are ready for the holiday season. Some may just need a cleaning while other may need repairs done. Regardless, you don’t want to find out the hour before you’re set to head to a party.

Heirloom Watches

November 29th, 2011 | Posted by orens in jewelry engraving | luxury watches - (0 Comments)

luxury watchesWatches and jewelry always make great gifts. When you decide to pass down a family heirloom like your mother’s diamond earrings or your one of your father’s luxury watches that has been in the family for years, it is usually to mark a transition. These heirloom items make heartwarming gifts for college or high school graduates, those coming home for Christmas for the first time, newlyweds, and new parents.

On the surface a watch or a piece of jewelry is just a flashy item, but when you add your family’s history to it and explain how it made its way down through your lineage, it becomes something so much more special. It becomes an heirloom.

If your family is lacking such an item, then have one created. Simply buy a beautiful watch and take it in for  jewelry engraving. Mark the date, the occasion, or simply the recipient’s initials. Then take comfort in the fact that in 50 years your decedents will be passing the watch down and adding new chapters to its story.

When choosing the watch try to find something simple and timeless. If it’s going to be handed down over the ages you want it to stay in style. Simple and elegant is the way to go.

Watch Repair and Holiday Gifting

November 23rd, 2011 | Posted by orens in luxury watches - (0 Comments)

repair watchesIf you are looking for an affordable gift for this holiday season  pre-owned watches may not be a bad idea. There are a lot of great watches out there in thrift stores, antique shops, and flea markets that are beautiful, brand name, and would make a great gift. The only problem is they don’t run.  There are, however, solutions to this problem.

If you go to an antique store ask if they have a return policy and what it is. In many cases you can buy the watch and take it to a person who can repair watches. They can tell you how damaged the watch is and how much it would take to get it up and running again. If it’s a nice watch and is easily repaired you have just scored yourself a great, affordable gift. If the watch is severely damaged just return it. It can take a few tries but you would be surprised how many great, affordable watches out there that are in need of simple repairs.

You can also take the watch and have it engraved to give it that extra personal touch. You can end up giving someone a wonderful gift at a fraction of a price of a new watch.
